Taco Chip Dip

by Rob
(Hamilton, Ontario, Canada)

Here is a really tasty and creamy taco chip dip that can give you the option of using healthy, low-fat (and also low-salt) ingredients. Most grocery stores carry these types of alternate products. You can also choose how hot you want it, so it won't upset stomachs -- works well for elderly snackers.

Ingredients:

500ml salsa (mild, medium or hot)
500ml light (low fat) cream cheese
500ml light (low fat) sour cream
500ml low fat cheddar cheese
Tortilla Chips

Layer the ingredients as follows:

Allow cream cheese to reach room temperature for easier mixing.
Mix cream cheese and sour cream and layer in 8x11 serving dish.
You may wish to strain the salsa slightly as it may contain too much liquid.
Pour salsa over first layer.
Grate cheddar cheese and layer on top.

Serve with whole grain, baked not fried, tortilla chips.
