About Spring Forest Qigong
Do you know anyone with stress, illness, pain, a chronic condition, depression? Spring Forest Qigong can effectively help -- I experienced it myself, so I know first hand. And don't we all know someone we'd like to help, including those who are aging. Well this is something that really works. What is Spring Forest Qigong? (Pronounced chee-gong). First of all, qigong is an ancient practice of healing originating in China. It is a mind-body technique using breath, gentle movement, meditation; and working with the qi (chee) or energy flow throughout your body and nervous system. Sound usual? Not at all! There are many aspects of qigong that are similar to yoga or tai chi. And it has many of the same benefits, being ideal for all ages. I practice it daily and love it. And there has now been much medical research done as well (see below). Spring Forest Qigong (SFQ) is a specifically developed technique -- and one of the big pluses is that you can to it entirely sitting down or even laying down, if you want to. So it is excellent for seniors and elderly. And it is meant to be easy. When we are sick, hurt, stressed, depressed, our energy flow can be out of balance or interrupted. You may be familiar with this concept through yoga and t'ai chi. Through the very specific yet gentle movements, focus, and breathing, SFQ can help heal these problems. (And I can testify that it really works). Even in medical cases involving chronic conditions or permanent damage, SFQ can help with pain and with emotional and spiritual balance and healing. There are also mini techniques you can do, much like a little massage or acupressure, that help with specific areas of pain or problems, such as headaches or sinus problems. And like I said, it really works. Traditional qigong originally grew out of the martial arts in China. It was considered very mysterious and difficult to master, taking many years of disciplined practice. Spring Forest Qigong is an original system developed by internationally acclaimed Master Chunyi Lin after studying with a great number of masters for over 20 years in his homeland, China. He then came to realize that qigong was really very simple and not as complicated as traditional teachers like to let people think it is.
So Master Lin developed his own system, Spring Forest Qigong, very powerful yet simple. He now lives in the Minneapolis area, has a world-renowned center in the area, has been on TV and in the media numerous times, teaches as local colleges and universities, and partners with doctors at the Mayo Clinic. He's also written a New York Times #1 bestseller (Born To Be A Healer.) Read some remarkable stories at Spring Forest Qigong. You will also find many positive comments and recommendations by medical professionals nation-wide (including Deepak Chopra, M.D., and the Mayo Clinic), as well as summaries of many research findings, particularly with pain control and depression. I personally practice SFQ daily and can say that it has specifically improved allergies, asthma, chronic fatigue, sleeplessness, restless legs, plus immediately alleviates any feelings of on-coming depression. When I was plagued with a chronic cough, it significantly lessened after about four days of practicing these techniques. SFQ is meant to be easy and you can do it even just 10 to 20 minutes per day or 30 minutes a couple times a week (I usually do it for about 25 minutes); whatever suits you. There are many teachers all over the world for Spring Forest Qigong, or you can go to the web site link above for a very easy home-study course. You only need to learn the basic first level to achieve just about any result. Some days I'm so exhausted I can hardly get out of bed and even the thought of exercise is overwhelming. So I just do SFQ for about 5 or 10 minutes while still in bed – and then I feel so much better! I can personally recommend SFQ as great technique for seniors who want to be able to do very easy movements whether standing, sitting, or bed-ridden, and who also want relief from discomfort, either body or mind. It is not necessary to have a teacher in a classroom setting, although I find that to be really fun. You can easily learn it on your own through a simple DVD (see the link above). This is also a great way to supplement any exercise routine, or relaxation and meditation techniques, if you are doing those. Most people feel remarkably energized and calm after a very short time, and may see bothersome physical problems diminish or become easier to deal with. So do check it out.
